@SIEC Retreatt is a four-day, three-night gathering where Black women who impact K-12 education come to heal, play, learn from Sister Elders in Education (SEE)–renowned scholars, thought leaders, and practitioners–be guided by Sister Ancestors in Education (SAE)–pioneering Black women educators on whose shoulders we stand–create and move forward in renewed strength and clarity with the love of Sisters in Education (SIE)–fellow educators, professors, activists, consultants, school leaders and the like–from across the nation. In this intimate setting, we bring together a diverse, intergenerational group of Black women who are committed to the educational well being and academic success of Black children and those whose work honors the legacy of the Black Teaching Tradition. Women who are experiencing burnout and isolation are especially encouraged to participate. A wide range of educators is encouraged to attend including scholars, principals, paraprofessionals, classroom teachers, district leaders, homeschool mothers, bus drivers, educational consultants, lunch ladies, librarians, artists, and activists.
